About the opportunity

The Early Childhood Development Program aims to improve systematic and operational responses for vulnerable families with children aged 0-5 years, who experience challenges/barriers to engaging in early years’ services and are at risk of becoming involved with Child Protection if problems are not addressed.

The Early Childhood Development Coordination is responsible for strengthening integrated service responses and partnerships between Child FIRST/Family Services and early years’ service providers, to enhance opportunities for vulnerable children and families to access and remain engaged with early years’ services. The role will identify local barriers, develop strategic responses, provide case consultancy to Child FIRST/Family Services Practitioners and deliver targeted education sessions to early years’ services.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a relevant tertiary qualification in early childhood development, infant mental health, social work or a related discipline.

You will also have:

  • Sound understanding of early childhood development and factors that can impact a child’s development
  • Knowledge of legislation and frameworks relevant to the Early Childhood and Child Youth and Family Welfare sectors
  • Previous experience in providing secondary consultation, advice and recommendations
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
