About the opportunity

We have a new opportunity for a Practitioner with experience in social work, psychology or disability fields to join our Inner East Child and Family Services Program. The program supports families who are experiencing high levels of stress and difficulties that impact on parenting, family life and children’s well being.

As a Specialist Disability Practitioner you will:

• Provide case management support to vulnerable children and parents with disabilities
• Assist children and families to access disability support services and effectively navigate the NDIS
• Undertake therapeutic assessments underpinned by a range of theoretical approaches
• Develop individualised action plans where disability support needs are identified
• Develop parenting strategies that support strengthening and stabilising of the family

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a degree qualification in social work, psychology, disability or a related discipline.

You will also have:

• Demonstrated case management experience within the disability and/or child, youth and family welfare field
• Experience in working directly with children and young people with complex needs due to disability
• Proven ability to assess risk for children aged 0-17 years
• A trauma informed and family strengthening approach to case management
• Well-developed communication and negotiation skills
