About The Heritage Service

Uniting Church agencies have been providing out-of-home care services for children for over a century. The Heritage Service exists to support those individuals and their families who spent time in these organisations as children, and who have returned to the organisations as adults, seeking records and other information about their time in care. The Heritage Service provides records, searching and support to people affected by adoption.

About the opportunity

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join our Heritage Service team to make a difference in the lives of people seeking information about their past. This offers an opportunity to contribute to the development of archival processes around the records of Uniting’s founding agencies. The role also involves undertaking records searches, preparing record-keeping systems, indexes, records for release and assisting with general administration tasks. Within this role you will be responsible for managing the records and databases and ensuring that they are accurate and up-to-date.

About you

You are looking for an opportunity to make an impact within the community. You have the ability to adapt in a changing environment and actively listen and respond to past service users with professionalism and kindness.

In addition, you have demonstrated archiving and research skills, and experience in electronic data management systems and record keeping.
