About the opportunity

The role of the Senior Behaviour Support Practitioner is to strengthen the practice skills and knowledge of all staff and to support a practice culture that is evidence based and imbed Positive Behaviour Support Principles and Practices within Uniting.

The role will provide direct care practice, including the development of effective Behaviour Support Plans for Uniting and external participants referred for behaviour support services. This includes assisting with plan implementation and monitoring of Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).

The role will also provide and assist the managers of Disability Services, to provide post-incident support, direct therapeutic or behaviour interventions as well as reporting, and working collaboratively with Uniting staff, families, carers and external professionals.

About you

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have

  • Recognised qualifications in an appropriate allied health discipline of psychology or equivalent
  • Provisional Practitioner ID with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
  • Extensive demonstrated experience working in the disability sector with experience in behaviour management  
  • Experience or willingness to learn the APO role
  • Experience developing behaviour support plans and completing functional behaviour support assessments
  • Experience in clinical supervision
  • Previous experience developing collaborative relationship with government and non-government service providers
