About the opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Family Violence Therapeutic Worker to join the Family Violence team, as part of our Homeless Intake and Prevention Program. The role will provide individual and group work programs for children within the Pathways to Resilience Program. The program offers therapeutic services to children, young people and adults, who are victim survivors of family violence. The program focuses on addressing impacts of family violence to ensure victim survivors are safe, heal from their experiences and develop resilience into the future.

The Senior Family Violence Therapeutic Worker will participate in the referral intake process, undertake family violence risk assessments, facilitate group work activities, and deliver client-focused, therapeutic responses. As a Senior Worker, you will also work closely with the Team Leader to provide effective leadership, supervision and mentoring support to staff within the team.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification.

You will also have:

  • Demonstrated experience facilitating group work with children within the community services sector, preferably in a family violence context
  • Well-developed understanding of family violence and its impact on children and families
  • A client focused approach, with the ability to prioritise the individual needs of each client
  • Experience providing supervision and mentoring support to staff or students
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form effective working relationships and foster a positive team culture
