About the opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Coordinator to lead our newly established Student Unit, which will facilitate social work placements across our Child, Youth and Family Services Programs in Eastern Melbourne. The role will establish positive relationships with placement coordinators at universities and other training institutions and enhance Uniting’s reputation in providing quality social work placements.

As the Student Unit Coordinator, you will drive recruitment and induction processes for students who are interested in a career in the child, youth and family welfare sector. The Coordinator will match students to appropriate Uniting supervisors and also provide direct supervision to students where the Uniting supervisor doesn’t hold the required social work qualification.

The Coordinator will develop an induction program for new students, while also offering support and learning materials to Uniting supervisors to ensure they understand the expectations of their role.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a Bachelor level degree in Social Work.

You will also have:

  • Demonstrated social work experience in the child, youth and family welfare sector
  • Sound understanding of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and Best Interest Principles
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and establish professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills
