About the opportunity

The Playgroup Facilitator is responsible for delivering smalltalk playgroups, establishing relationships with participants and offering in home support to isolated and disadvantaged families with children aged 0-5 years. Smalltalk introduces parents to evidence-based parenting strategies which aim to enhance their children’s development and home learning environment. The Facilitator will also provide developmental play experiences using the smalltalk framework for children, increase parent confidence, capacity and connectedness to the community.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a relevant tertiary qualification in early childhood development or a related discipline.

You will also have:

  • Demonstrated experience within the early childhood development and/or child, youth and family welfare sectors
  • Previous experience in delivering playgroups with an evidence-based framework for children and families
  • Knowledge of positive parenting practices
  • Demonstrated ability to model positive interactions and behaviour management strategies to parents
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
