About the opportunity

We have an opportunity for two Youth & Family Support Worker to join our Child, Youth and Family Preservation Program. The role will provide support to vulnerable young people who may be at risk, in crisis or experiencing homelessness.

The Youth & Family Support Worker will undertake risk and needs assessments, and work collaboratively with families to develop Action Plans that address areas of conflict or concern. The role will deliver support through a range of flexible intervention strategies including case management, youth support, family mediation, parenting advice and liaison with schools and other specialist services. Ultimately, the role will aim to strengthen the family environment and reduce the need for Child Protection involvement.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a Certificate IV (or higher) qualification in youth work, social work, psychology or a related discipline.

You will also have:

  • Previous experience within the homelessness services and/or child, youth and family welfare sectors
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking risk assessments and planning appropriate intervention strategies
  • Capacity to work flexibly and innovatively to meet the needs of young people and families
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
