Hoarding and Advocacy Support Key Worker

Applications are invited for a Hoarding and Advocacy Support (HASS) Key Worker to partner with the HASS Team Leader to provide intensive case management and support to people experiencing the impact of hoarding behaviours and insanitary property conditions.

Our Offer

  • Part Time 22.5 hours per week negotiable
  • Fixed term until 31 December 2022
  • $37.54 to $39.51 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience

About the role

  • Provide intensive case management based in a person centred, strengths-based approach for the participants who are referred to the HASS program, with the aim of supporting other agencies to sustain and maintain work with these participants.
  • Ensure the work with participants has a focus on building skills, understanding hoarding behaviour, builds confidence and encourages reconnection with the community.
  • Ensure that services accessed by people experiencing hoarding or squalor are coordinated, integrated and complementary to other services in the community.
  • Provide a welcoming and professional environment for participants, families, service providers and team members through the provision of consistent high-quality person-centred practice.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and other relevant data and participate in reporting processes.
  • Provide regular communication of service user’s feedback and information to the relevant team members.
  • Attend and represent HASS and WCS at Hoarding Case Management Group meetings.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Cert IV in Mental Health or community related discipline or relevant experience.
  • An understanding of the impacts of hoarding behaviour and thinking and how to approach this in a person centred, strengths-based approach.
  • Skills, knowledge and experience in providing case management through outreach services, referrals, monitoring and reporting progress.
  • An understanding of strength-based, solution focused and recovery approaches. An understanding of social justice principles.
  • Ability to build supportive and respectful relationships with people experiencing mental illness and mental distress including family members and carers.
