Remuneration by reference to SCHADS Level 5

  • At least three years’ experience
  • Ability to provide assistance to a broad range of clients on a broad range of financial issues.
  • An understanding of family violence and integrated practice will be highly favourable.

Women's Legal Service Tasmania (WLST) is recruiting an experienced financial counsellor to work in our organisation to provide support to our clients. This position is funded through a grant from the Financial Counselling Foundation, which runs until 30 June 2023.

This position can be based out of any of our offices around the state – Hobart, Launceston or Burnie. WLST offers flexible working arrangements, five weeks of annual leave, and salary packaging options.

Working alongside our statewide team of solicitors and social workers, the financial counsellor will help to support women who contact WLST for assistance though our integrated practice. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in financial counselling and will be able to sensitively take instructions and provide support and referral options to clients who have experienced family violence or other forms of discrimination and abuse.

Working in conjunction with our specialist family violence units in Launceston and Burnie, our 1800 Advice Line, our Health Justice Partnership project, our program assisting Temporary Visa Holders Experiencing Family Violence, and our specialist Workplace Sexual Harassment program, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their professional capability on a range of matters within a trauma-informed framework.
