Word Travels is a not-for-profit arts organisation with DGR status. We create literary and literacy programs with festivals, companies, schools, libraries, and cultural institutions around Australia and the Asia Pacific. We identify and pursue opportunities for young people, people from culturally diverse backgrounds and marginalised communities to develop their skills, and to create and express themselves by performing their work. Our largest program is the international Australian Poetry Slam.
We work with emerging and established spoken-word artists, poets, lyricists, story-tellers and monologists to develop an industry that merges with actors, musicians and writers.
We empower marginalised communities through programs that amplify diverse narratives. We do this with performances, videos, podcasts, albums and publications.
Working with us you will achieve impact in community development, education and artistic excellence.
You will help us inspire people to tell their stories in creative ways.
