We have a rare opportunity for a Disability & Inclusion Advisor to join World Vision Australia’s (WVA’s) high performing field programme team. You will be responsible for providing a range of services that support the implementation of quality accessible and inclusive programming, predominantly for WVA’s Australian NGO Cooperation Partnership (ANCP) Program in Pacific countries

While managing a field-based Disability Advisor, this role contributes to the achievement of impact and supports WVA’s donors and Field Offices’ to ensures that persons with disabilities partner with WVA to participate and benefit from ANCP programs. The role engages across the organisation and provides technical and advisory support and input into strategy development and grant acquisition, program learning and evidence building, and undertakes DFAT and external sector engagement.

Your areas of responsibility will include;

  • Co-ordinate and consolidate disability outcomes across ANCP projects to demonstrate improvement in living standards and wellbeing in communities in developing countries, in alignment with DFAT priorities
  • Strengthen in-country partner capacity, in particular the Pacific, to engage and build the agency of people with disabilities, their representative organisations and other relevant partners
  • Strengthen WVA knowledge, skills, and capacity, empowering our internal teams to action best practice principles and sector trends into ANCP and other projects
  • Develop and disseminate disability inclusion related tools, standards, and guidance documents for use across the ANCP portfolio and other projects
  • Manage field-based disability advisor role
  • Support the design and stand-up of new projects in consultation with Evidence Building Advisors and Country Impact Managers
  • Support efforts toward implementation of WV inclusion initiatives to strengthen organisation policies for ANCP purposes, including leadership and support of WVA, WV International and DFAT disability inclusion working groups. 
  • Demonstrate WVA as a thought-leader in disability inclusion by engaging with DFAT, ANCP sector and WVI Working Groups providing learnings on capacity development, technical support of project models and integration of disability inclusion into GESI policy. 

Who we are looking for…

  • Technical qualifications in disability inclusivity and a track record in thought-leadership initiatives.
  • Experience in providing technical support to international development programmes including the communication of results.
  • People-centred coaching or mentoring attitude with a focus on building long-term capabilities and capacities.
  • Training, resource development and capacity building.
  • Influencing and negotiation skills, including relationship management with donors and colleagues
  • Ability and knowledge of how to engage with persons with diverse disabilities.
  • Disability inclusive design, implementation and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Understanding of strategies and priorities of DFAT and the requirements of the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) desirable.

This role is a permanent position operating in a full-time capacity and will be based at our head office in Burwood East, Victoria.
