The Position

We have a great opportunity for a Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor to join World Vision Australia’s (WVA’s) high performing field programming team. You will support WVA’s ANCP portfolio; leading a robust and engaging Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning framework (MELF) to meet DFAT requirements and strategic goals of WVA. To achieve this, you will work with the ANCP Manager and over 30 colleagues across WVA to support the delivery annually a ~A$30m ANCP grant portfolio that currently includes over 30 grant projects across ~20 countries. It is WVA’s highest profile and most strategic grant.

You will lead on coordinating an annual cycle of research and analysis; shifting the focus of project-level design, monitoring and evaluation (DME) beyond compliance to utilisation; from outputs to outcomes.  Your role will have a strong focus on external networks, including proactive engagement with DFAT and the broader development sector to promote programme and sector level learnings. Contributing to the quality of this evidence, you will work closely with portfolio and technical colleagues to incorporate and track meaningful measures of results, under a gender and inclusion-sensitive framework.

In addition to this you will be:

• Define and document ANCP strategic outcomes as a program, in line with the organisation’s global impact framework, strategic objectives and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
• Strengthen engagement and collaboration with DFAT as a partner and donor.
• Identify and promote WVA organisational significance of ANCP, for supporters, relationships and impact.
• Explain ANCP objectives and results against them.
• Strengthen our M&E practices to encourage quality and utilisation of ANCP data, in line with ANCP priorities for working with the most vulnerable (women and girls, people with disability, children).

Who we’re looking for 

A good communicator of impact with strong technical skills in design, monitoring, evaluation and reporting. This is in addition to sound stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage, influence and collaborate across all levels of the organisation and within the sector.

Your skills and experience will include:

• Strong understanding of the international development context and key issues, including Australian market needs around evidence and impact.
• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline – International Development, Evaluation, Research or other relevant technical field within WVA’s priority sectors.
• Experience working across a number of sectors including economic development, livelihoods, agriculture, health & nutrition, fragility.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in design, monitoring and evaluation (DM&E) and research.
• Experience in quantitative and qualitative methodologies for field-based data collection including ethical considerations and utilisation principles.
• Experience in commissioning and conducting meta-analyses or other statistical analysis or systematic reviews strongly preferred.
• Experience in DFAT reporting, contractual and financial requirements an advantage.
• Strong experience in report writing and presenting.
