Project Manager - Early Childhood Care and Development - Alice Springs

The position

The Project Manager will provide quality oversight, management and reporting for two childcare centres at Alice Springs to ensure they operate in accordance with budgets, meets outcomes required by the funding agreements and comply with National Quality Standards. In this role you will develop and strengthen partnerships and relationships with implementation partners and stakeholders.

This is a hands on role and you will require to drive community engagement activities to identify any community level barriers effecting childcare participation and work with community to address them. In addition to this, you will ensure compliance requirements are met within required timeframes.

Your role plays an integral part in the organisation, enabling us to support our mission of empowering Australians to create meaningful change for the world’s most vulnerable children and adults.

This is a contract role based in Alice Springs until June 2023 with possibility of extension subject to Funding

In addition to this you will:

  • Work with the Child Care Director/Coordinator to implement policies and procedures in line with childcare regulations
  • Lead annual participatory implementation planning for the project considering feedback from stakeholders, team learnings and project design, monitoring, and evaluation, as well as quarterly team reflections. 
  • Ensure strong safeguarding practices are implemented in alignment with WVA Safeguarding policies, standards, procedures, and relevant legislation
  • Undertake development and submission of annual budgets in collaboration with World Vision operations team and WYDAC
  • Manage various grant budgets to maximise spending of grant funding in line with the donor contract and project annual budget
  • Ensure all staff are meeting financial policies to acquit project spending
  • Ensure Partnerships are developed and maintained with local Aboriginal organisations and regional organisations to achieve project outcomes 
  • Develop and submit high quality project reports (monthly financial reports, semi-annual and annual project reports) in line with grant and program requirements. 
  • Build communication materials that will enable reporting back to communities, WVA supporters, particularly of positive stories of change. 

Who we’re looking for 

A go-getting Project Manager who loves to manage others, lead projects and has a passion for early childcare.

You will also have:

  • An interest and understanding of literacy issues in Australia 
  • Understanding of the cultural, political, economic, and social issues affecting Aboriginal people in Central Australia
  • Good understanding of, & firm commitment to, community development processes, gender equity, participatory approaches, and development theory
  • Proven success and experience managing a team including mentoring and training staff
  • Demonstrated professional experience working with remote Aboriginal communities in a development context
  • Ability to live in Alice Springs and travel to remote communities at least 10 days per month
  • Experience facilitating community consultations and influencing community participation
  • Experience working with women and children
  • Degree qualification in Education, Community Development, Behavioural or Social Sciences, related discipline, or equivalent experience
