Yaandina Community Services, situated in Roebourne for 45 years, is the largest locally based provider of community services in the Pilbara. Our Mission is to improve the quality of life within the community through care, support and education. Yaandina also operates a youth service in Karratha.

About the Role

Karratha Youth Services aims is to engage at risk and disadvantaged young people aged 12 – 18 years with a view to reducing their level of risk and managing their lives in a positive framework. This is undertaken by providing individual case management coupled with programs and activities, employment education and training, leisure and recreation, emotional health and wellbeing, in collaboration with other agencies and individuals in a caring, non-judgemental, and supportive environment.

We work with families (where possible) and other service providers at all times to provide wraparound support for the child and young person. The Senior Youth Worker will often work independently and take direction from the Youth Services Coordinator.

Selection Criteria

  • Qualifications or experience in social sciences or Certificate III in Community Services (or working towards)
  • Ensure the provision of appropriate and effective strategies, individual and group support to young people experiencing disadvantage and adversity, while ensuring their active participation in decision making
  • Actively working towards continuous improvement in the service
  • Ensure you are aware and adhere to Yaandina policies and procedures. Review policies and procedures at staff meetings.
  • Be aware and develop expertise on issues impacting local children and young people to ensure activities and programs are suitable, up to date and relevant to their needs eg: alcohol and drug use, sexual health, school attendance, training and employment options, health impacts and justice issues

Also desirable is a current ‘LR or HR class driver’s license & F endorsement, current Senior First Aid Certificate and Bronze Medallion.
