This is a great opportunity to join a well-respected community legal and social welfare agency for young people and play your part in helping young people and their families to get their lives back on track! YAC has a multidisciplinary team delivering services across the greater Brisbane area generally, to young people aged 10-18 years who are involved in, or at risk of involvement in the youth justice and/or child protection systems, and/or are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

IBI Intensive Family Support Workers provide strengths-based, trauma-informed, collaborative, intensive casework to support young people and their families, with the over-arching aim of keeping the young person out of custody.

High risk young people will often display ongoing and entrenched offending behaviour, have complex and extreme needs and significant trauma backgrounds and some young people need more intensive support.

The area serviced by Brisbane North Youth Justice Service Centre is one of five Intensive Bail Initiative (IBI) sites, which are also trialling electronic monitoring, to respond to the needs of serious recidivist young offenders and their families, with a higher level of intervention than under general bail support services.

YAC is looking for two people who are enthusiastic about working with young people, display good judgement and initiative and are good team members.

YAC has an expectation that all staff will be reliable and punctual, both within the office and in responding to young people and their families, and that they will support diversity and respect in the workplace and in their practice.
