Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic) is the peak body and leading policy advocate on young people’s issues in Victoria. YACVic’s vision is that the rights of young people in Victoria are respected, and they are active, visible and valued in their communities. YACVic is an independent, for-purpose, member-driven organisation that represents young people (aged 12–25 years) and the sector that works with them.

YACVic provides additional targeted advocacy and services through our key services, YACVic Rural and the Youth Disability Advocacy Service, and our auspiced partner, the Koorie Youth Council.

About the Role

The HR generalist will be primarily responsible for recruitment and onboarding of new employees in YACVic’s diverse and busy teams, paying close attention to the engagement of people who both have the right skills/experience and the right fit with our progressive organisational culture. There is flexibility to this role, you could enter as a HR Coordinator with a passion for diversity or a Manager looking to jobshare in a rewarding part time role, while we finalise the structure of this area. There is also potential to become ongoing if you are our ideal candidate.

Major Duties

  • With the assistance of other members of the Corporate Services team, manage end to end recruitment, onboarding and off boarding, including and liaison with IT support and finance/ payroll as required to support those processes.
  • Assist with management of people throughout employee lifecycle, ensuring appropriate orientation and induction, performance reviews and performance management.
  • Support Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) and the promotion and implementation of a safe, healthy and positive working environment, including communication with leadership team and staff on COVID-19 implications and updating office COVID-safe plans to reflect restriction changes.
  • Oversee and support maintenance and use of HR administrative systems and records, (including, but not limited to, passwords, child safe register, assets register, staff files and performance records).
  • Oversee the continuing development, review and implementation of policies and procedures for managers and staff.

Reporting & accountability

This role reports to the YACVic Corporate Services Manager.
