About the role

Our Communications and Engagement team are going through an exciting period of evolution, with several new positions created to better service our community and drive Council’s organisational objectives.

We have an exciting opportunity for a vibrant Community Engagement Officer to join our Customer & Communications department. The Community Engagement Officer will support Council’s organisational objectives of delivering meaningful, authentic, and responsive community engagement, by providing support in the delivery of Council’s engagement activities.

Supported by the Coordinator Community Engagement, this role plays a pivotal role in:

  • Supporting face-to-face community engagement initiatives/events.
  • Developing content and supporting the administration of Council’s online engagement platform, Shaping Yarra Ranges.
  • Communications support for identified community engagement activities.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity (38 hours per week).

About the team

Our Corporate Services directorate provides a range of support and expertise that is integral to Council operations. Our Customer & Communications, Financial Services, People & Culture, Information Services, and Enterprise Systems departments provide specialised advice and service to a broad range of groups including Council staff, contractors, ratepayers, and the community.

What you’ll bring to our team

  • Experience in delivering community engagement activities.
  • Knowledge of community engagement principles and online engagement tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders and members of the community.
  • Experience in local government is highly regarded but not essential.

Salary from $72,927per annum (Band 5), plus superannuation.
