About the role

The Place Manager, Transitional Housing manages Unison's transitional housing portfolio and properties in Western Melbourne. The main objectives of this role are to ensure Unison provides high quality, safe and sustainable housing and that Unison tenants are supported to sustain their housing, and maximise their participation in communities that thrive. 

This role reports to the Team Leader, Place Management.

Some of the main duties include:

  • Establish strong relationships with tenants and sustain a successful transitional housing tenancy
  • Work in close collaboration with support agencies
  • Ensure that properties are maintained to a high standard
  • Effectively manage rent for all properties in the portfolio
  • Work with the Team Leader in allocating people to vacancies
  • Ensure vacancy rates are within Unison and DFFH targets

About you

To make this role a success, we are seeking a person with:

  • Qualifications in Social Work, Community Development, Social Sciences, Or experience in the Housing or Real Estate sector
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Residential Tenancies Act
  • Highly experienced in working effectively and sensitively with a broad range of clients, including those with high and complex support needs and behaviours 
  • Ability to listen, understand and act with a solution focussed approach
  • Possess a current full Victorian driver’s licence
  • Undergo relevant screening checks 

In exchange Unison offers: 

  • A Permanent, Full-time position
  • Primarily based at Footscray but will be required to travel 
  • Salary $74,455 per annum (plus superannuation)
  • 5 weeks annual leave with 17.5% annual leave loading
  • Additional Personal leave annually
  • Access to Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free
  • Supportive working environment, and access to EAP 
  • Access to the Unison Social Club
