About the role

The Y NSW is looking for a communications hero. You will be a wordsmith champion who will thrive on telling the story of our sport and recreation centres, our camps, our childcare services and diversity, youth and community work. You will weave this story together across a multichannel customer experience and internal communications strategy.

Communications Specialist is an integral part of the Y NSW’s Corporate Affairs team, reporting directly to the Head of Corporate Affairs to build the brand, reputation and story of the Y NSW. The successful candidate will be working with key stakeholders including the CEO, Executive Leaders, the Y’s Product and Marketing team and People & Culture team.

A typical day at the Y for you will be:

  • Hunting and gathering content from across the organisation.
  • Developing, optimising and continuously improving a streamlined communications plan for customer and internal communications, and executing this across web, intranet, social media, e Communications and on-site channels.
  • Writing and creating content in liaison with social media, digital marketing and design experts at the Y.

You are:

  • Highly organised and an astute planner with the ability to engage with a wide variety of people across professions and specialisms, juggle priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Love to write for various platforms, capturing the essence of an organisation’s brand belief and conveying this to both internal stakeholders and a variety of customers.
  • Degree qualified in marketing, communications, journalism or a related field .
  • Have at least 3 -5 years of experience on the job. Ideally you have experience in the not-for-profit sector, but what really matters is that you get what the Y stands for, what we achieve and you are aligned with that purpose.
