The YMCA Vocational School is a multi-campus educational community based at Acacia Ridge, Ipswich, Kingston, Mango Hill, North Lakes and Victoria Point.

The School is a Special Assistance School offering alternative schooling programs to assist disengaged students in having the opportunity to reach their full potential through positive educational studies, activities and outcomes.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently recruiting for a Numeracy Support Teacher. This is a full-time, position working 35 hours per week. 

The position will require work across our school sites. The workload will include approximately 60% student engagement duties with the remaining time allocated to curriculum development and improvement projects.

The ideal applicant will be looking for a challenge, have a passion for working with young people, a strong interest in the development of the holistic person, a personal interest in Numeracy development, spirituality, personal well-being and values and ongoing professional development.

Selection Criteria

To be successful in the role, you will be able to meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a relevant Bachelor degree, current Queensland Teacher Registration, First Aid Certificate and CPR Qualifications; 
  •  Be able to demonstrate practical experience of teaching and supporting young people in the development of their Numeracy skills;
  • Ability to apply appropriate knowledge to plan and prepare Numeracy teaching and learning programs to meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students who are at risk of disengaging from education;
  • Proven ability to develop, design and implement individual learning programs and materials;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students including the use of appropriate interpersonal skills; 
  • Work successfully in a small team and within the schools’ philosophy & ethos to establish productive partnerships and achieve educational outcomes.
