YMCA Torquay Early Learning Centre is a 104 place Long Day Care service. We work closely with the local community to ensure that we are providing the highest possible care to all children within our service. Our service is located in a rapidly growing area in North Torquay. We have a large outdoor space that allows children of all ages the opportunity to explore the natural environment of Torquay that they have grown to love. We also have beach and bush Kindergarten programs that are very popular.

Our vibrant Early Learning Centre incorporates modern and progressive teaching practices which embeds the Early Learning Years Framework. Working in alignment with YMCA Victoria's philosophy, our ELC setting prides itself in teaching a calm and structured learning environment where children are exposed to high quality education.

We offer children a purpose-built early learning centre to instil a love of learning, nurture curiosity and help children reach their full potential, providing everything needed to play, learn and thrive throughout the day.

About the role

This exciting leadership position will oversee the daily operations and strategic development of the YMCA Torquay Early Learning Centre. It is a fantastic opportunity to be part of developing a modern centre and a high performing team. As a motivated and customer-focused leader, the Centre Manager will lead a highly engaged and dedicated team in the exceptional delivery of the National Quality Framework in Early Learning.

You will experience specialist support from a diverse and caring team, as you lead community and family engagement, with children's potential at the heart of our service philosophy.

This is a permanent full time position and the salary will be negotiable depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

About you

You will be passionate and committed to delivering a superior service for children and their parents. You will:

  • Have a solid knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Framework, Victorian Early Years Framework and the Education and Care National Regulations and Act
  • Showcase strong leadership abilities while supporting the local team of Educators with an emphasis on collaboration, communication, empowerment and engagement
  • Possess great verbal and written communication skills and can provide parents with effective feedback and encourage them to meet with the Room Leader to discuss children’s development
  • Have well-developed emotional intelligence to be able to remain calm and composed on the face of anger and frustration
  • Create a culture within the function where personal accountability is promoted to better influence
  • Create a culture of continuous feedback and clarity of messages within the function​
  • Have the ability to handle and respond to unforeseen accidents, incidents and emergencies while putting up a brave face and remaining calm
  • Have a natural flair in building positive working relationships with stakeholders and driving results

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Early Childhood/Children’s Services or similar
  • First Aid & CPR certification
  • Anaphylaxis and Asthma certification
  • Demonstrated leadership experience that inspires and motivates people across the function to perform to their best
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and understanding in the implementation and ongoing management of the National Quality Framework
