About the Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing individually tailored on the job mentoring and skill development, whilst engaging and building rapport with our young participants. In addition, they will have the responsibility of fostering relationships and delivering quality service for our valued customers.

As Crew Leader, you will be responsible for:

• Mentor and assist in training Crew Members & Community Crew Leaders L1
• Prepare customer quotes.
• Deliver a quality service, including all relevant health and safety requirements and physically completing the tasks.
• Supervise daily job sites autonomously.
• Mentor participants to build upon “soft” work skills, i.e. communication, presentation and customer service.
• Provide participants with on the job skill development to support external theoretical training.
• Support the transition of participants into on-going employment.
• Uphold the values of the YMCA at all times.
• Other tasks as directed.

About the Team

YMCA ReBuild is a rapidly growing Trade based social enterprise that trains, employs and supports young offenders, twenty-eight years and under, to reduce recidivism rates. ReBuild recognises that employment provides more than an economic safety net. It provides security, stability, routine and a sense of livelihood. It provides individuals with; a connection to the community, exposure to a prosocial network, and plays a pivotal role in shaping a positive and prosocial identity.

At ReBuild we offer a range of landscaping, landscape maintenance, carpentry and building work across the Melbourne region. The enterprise achieves positive and sustainable employment outcomes by delivering on-the-job training to participants under the guidance of an experienced tradesperson.

About You

You will have strong interpersonal skills, allowing you to seamlessly build strong and positive relationships with the young participants in our program. Your well-developed communication skills will see you create and grow beneficial relationships between the business and community sectors, whilst working with a culturally diverse group. You will be highly motivated, with proven ability to work with limited supervision.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• A current and applicable driver’s license
• A current Working With Children’s Check
• A current Level 2 First Aid certificate
• A current White Card
• Experience in, and/or formal qualifications in the trade sector - such as a Commercial Landscaping, Horticulture, Landscape maintenance, Carpentry, Cabinetry and/or Painting

Desirable skills/qualifications include:

• Working at Heights certification
• Plant licenses including bobcat/skidsteer
• EWP Licence
• RIW Licence
• Experience in a similar role is highly desirable
