​YMCA Taylors Hill Early Learning Centre is a 84 place Long Day Care service, which also offers kindergarten. We work closely with the local community to ensure that we are providing to highest possible care to all children within our service and situated on the same grounds as Taylors Hill Primary school. 

Our vibrant Early Learning Centre incorporates modern and progressive teaching practices, which embeds the Early Learning Years Framework. Working in alignment with YMCA Victoria's philosophy, our ELC setting prides itself in teaching a calm and structured learning environment where children are exposed to high quality education.

About the role

Create a tranquil and positive environment for children to learn and thrive.

Adopting the modern techniques of teaching, you will be well-versed with the National Framework in Early Learning and Before and After School Hours Care. Your role will involve:

  • Creating a safe and fun environment for the children that are engaging and educational and delivering consistent high-quality practice of the National Quality Framework, including regulatory compliance (Education and Care National Regulations and Act), adhering to the seven National Quality Standards and Victorian Early Years Learning Framework (VEYLF).
  • Contributing to a culture of innovative Early Childhood practices and professional development while supporting the YMCA Children's Programs philosophy
  • Working with, and under the direction of the Room Leader to plan and implement quality programs for children responding to their individual strengths and interests using an approved curriculum framework as the platform for planning, practice and reflection
  • Following an approved curriculum, where you will be a role modelling for children in developing lifelong skills and instilling in them a passion for learning
  • Planning, developing and implementing quality programs for children where there is room for practice and reflection
  • Preparing and clearing up of activities while acknowledging and responding to children’s strengths and interests and capturing key learnings
  • Making lessons captivating and enjoyable for individuals and small groups of children
  • Possessing a great eye for details, record keeping and documenting without getting flustered
  • Being able to forge connection with children, nurturing their curiosity and expanding their skillset and overall development
  • Being professional and ensuring the highest quality of service at the Centre
  • Being an active member in the promotion of quality assurance processes for the Centre

Must be available between 6.30am-6.30pm as per Centre operational hours.

About you

You will be a passionate Early Childhood Educator committed to delivering a superior service for children and their parents. You will:

  • Have a solid knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Framework, Victorian Early Years Framework and the Education and Care National Regulations and Act
  • Possess great verbal and written communication skills and can provide parents with effective feedback and encourage them to meet with the Room Leader to discuss children’s development
  • Be able to work under the direction of the Room Leader, independently, and show initiative when required
  • Have a well-developed emotional intelligence to be able to remain calm and composed on the face of anger and frustration
  • Possess the ability to handle and respond to unforeseen accidents, incidents and emergencies while putting up a brave face and remaining calm
  • Have a natural flair in building positive working relationships with stakeholders and driving results
  • Be self-motivated, committed and bringing your best self to work

Qualifications and Licences

  • Diploma in Early Childhood/Children’s services
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Anaphylaxis and Asthma certification
