Cranbourne North YMCA Early Learning Centre is a 104 place service with 6 rooms. We are currently looking for an amazing Room Leader for our 12 place Nursery classrom.

Our service is purpose built with beautiful natural outdoor environments and well resourced centre.

You will be working alongside 2 dedicated educators, and a passionate team of educators. We have plenty of opportunity to further develop your skills through mentoring from our management team, who have many years of knowledge in the industry.

About the role

Create a tranquil and positive environment for children to learn and thrive. Adopting the modern techniques of teaching, you will be well-versed with the National Framework in Early Learning. Your role will involve:

• Lead, manage, and motivate appointed room staff to achieve the objectives of the Centre and support staff in their development
• Assist with the mentoring of permanent and casual employees
• Following an approved curriculum, where you will be a role modeling for children in developing lifelong skills and instilling in them a passion for learning
• Coordinate and direct the activities of employees engaged in implementing quality programs for children where there is room for practice and reflection
• Ensuring records are maintained accurately for each child in care and responding to children’s strengths and interests and capturing key learnings
• Making lessons captivating and enjoyable for individuals and small groups of children
• Record keeping and documentation
• Nurturing the curiosity of children in your care, expanding their skillset and overall development

About you

You will be a passionate Room Leader committed to delivering a superior service for children and their parents. You will:

• Have a solid knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Framework, Victorian Early Years Framework and the Education and Care National Regulations and Act
• Have experience running a nursery room
• Possess great verbal and written communication skills and can provide parents with effective feedback and discuss children’s development
• Have a well-developed emotional intelligence to be able to remain calm and composed on the face of anger and frustration
• Possess the ability to mentor employees in areas of programming and development of portfolios as the Room Leader
• Have the ability to provide ongoing support and assistance to the Manager and other Room Leaders in all areas of administrative procedures, curriculum development, family and community liaison, and employee professional development
• Be able to handle and respond to unforeseen accidents, incidents and emergencies while putting up a brave face and remaining calm
• Have a natural flair in building positive working relationships with stakeholders and driving results
• Be self-motivated, committed and bringing your best self to work

All candidates will be required to undertake background and probity checks including Reference Checks, a Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check prior to commencement.

Qualifications and Licences

• Diploma in Early Childhood/Children’s services
• First Aid and CPR certification
• Anaphylaxis and Asthma certification
