Description:

Join our support worker team based in Melbourne supporting our clients in South & East Melbourne. Start your working day in the home of a cheeky early teenage boy living in Keysborough. He has a love of minions, Horrible Histories, and cartoons or work with our independent gentleman with a love of his small dog, an interest in tech and engineering and an avid reader, especially of Stephen King novels. Assist him with throughout the day with his daily routines.

A valid driver's licence, personal vehicle and insurance is required for transport to and from appointments and social and community outings.

Previous experience of working with a person with a ABI/Stroke and / or Cerebral Palsy GMCF Level 5, advanced manual handling, complex medication assistance and support, and PEG feeding is required.

Various shifts available starting from 2 hours to 7 hours long early morning, day, afternoon and evening days a week. Hourly pay rates reflective of the complexity of the client for fully trained candidates, weekly pay and overtime rates are available to successful candidates.

Successful applicants may also be offered additional shifts with other clients in the same area.

Our fair pay policy recognises the importance and skills of our support workers with pay rates set via the disability service industry SCHADS Award and include casual loadings, penalty rates, overtime, superannuation, and portable long service leave (where available). In addition, all You First support workers benefit from a weekly payroll and a dedicated payroll team to answer any pay queries.

Role & Responsibilities

Your role involves supporting You First clients to:

  • Participate in day-to-day activities
  • Take part in social and community activities of their choosing
  • Accomplish their goals and sometimes even achieve their dreams.

The specific duties each day that you will undertake as a support worker will be guided by the person you are supporting or an appointed representative.

Successful applicants will be provided with client-specific care & support Information for every participant they work with before their first shift, along with ongoing access to the participants key support information and shift specific information through You First’s online portal.

You First support workers may be asked to provide support in one or more of the following support styles:

  • Personal care
  • Daily routines
  • Help around the house
  • Independent living
  • Attending appointments
  • Social & community access supports
  • Individual & tailored skills development

A Successful You

Successful candidates must at a minimum have experience within the disability sector, or experience supporting a person with a disability (formally or informally) and be caring and respectful towards all NDIS Participants and their families. This is an ideal role for someone with a nursing background.

Qualification & Experience

Requirements:

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check & NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
  • Working with Children (WWC) Check
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Australian Police Check (International Police Check where required)
  • Must be highly proficient in written and verbal English

Casual Hourly Pay Rates (excluding Superannuation)

  • Standard / Training $30.50
  • Complex $32.93
  • Highly Complex $37.54
