About the role

Our Glugor Young Parents program operates from a purpose-built facility incorporating training rooms and children's rooms within a natural setting to support young parents, carers, infants and young children (0-5 years) who live in the Moreton Bay Region.

The Child Development Worker provides adjunct care, child development assessment, assistance and support to the children of young parents participating in the program. Working within a close-knit team you will:

  • Develop and deliver child development focussed activities and parent child interactive experiences
  • Co-facilitate parent education workshops
  • Undertake case management and assessment for children aged 0 – 5 years
  • Participate in team meetings and program planning
  • Undertake general administrative and program preparation duties
  • Participate in networking, outreach and community activities as required

This position is a job share with some flexibility around hours, ideally 22.8 hours per week. Days and hours can be negotiated, however you will need to be available Tuesday to Thursday mornings to support transport and program delivery.

About you

You will be responsive to observed and stated client needs and interests and a team player who is creative and adaptable. Successful candidates will bring:

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Development and a minimum of two years’ experience working with disadvantaged parents and children
  • Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative children’s programs that have an educational and developmental focus
  • Understanding of child development and experience in assessing a child’s general health and wellbeing
  • An understanding of trauma informed practice
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong rapport and engage with children and young parents from diverse backgrounds
  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people to improve their quality of life
