About the role

The Communities for Children initiative is a federally funded, whole of community response aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of children aged 0-12 years in the Deception Bay community. The Community Networker and Development Officer will focus on supporting the development of an integrated and skilled local service system within a community development framework.

You be responsible for:

  • Organising and facilitating Communities for Children Alliance meetings/forums to increase collaboration and professional development
  • Supporting networking activities to increase information sharing
  • Coordinating referrals and projects with emphasis on supporting networks which connect schools, early learning services and community services to focus whole of community responses to supporting families and parents

You will be working collaboratively with Communities for Children projects using a Community Development Framework, to develop integrated and seamless referral systems across the sector with the aim of enhancing community knowledge, understanding and responsiveness for children and families.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A Bachelor Degree in a relevant discipline and minimum of three years’ experience within community development or Human Services
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading and facilitating community groups and networks and a thorough understanding of community development frameworks, along with project leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills (including networking skills and experience in undertaking a range of electronic communication strategies).

You will be able to take the initiative, engage and consult with a range of community stakeholders and be innovative in your approach to building relationships within the community.
