Team Leader - Early Childhood Development Program

The Early Childhood Development (ECD) program works with young parents to support vulnerable pre-school aged children reach physical, emotional, cognitive, and social developmental milestones, and transition to school successfully. It is a free service with which clients engage voluntarily. Individual support is delivered within yourtown’s Case Management Framework, which works with the parent/caregiver, family and/or child to systematically identify need through assessment, and through setting and reviewing goals.

About the role

As the Team Leader you will lead and oversee the program to improve children’s development and wellbeing to support them to make a successful transition to school.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and mentor a small team
  • Support the day to day delivery of the program
  • Carry a small caseload of families with complex needs
  • Facilitate case reviews and support the delivery of flexible, responsive services
  • Undertake assessment and develop and manage collaborative case plans
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, internally and within the community

About you:

You will be a reflective practitioner who enjoys working in multidisciplinary teams in diverse community settings. Successful candidates will bring:

  • Bachelor level qualification in Early Childhood Development, Social Work, Social Sciences or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years hands on case management experience working with families with complex needs
  • Experience in delivering services via outreach in family homes and in community
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and manage risk in relation to child and family safety, including identifying and addressing concerns
  • Experience in leading teams
  • Experience working with a range of issues impacting families such as family and domestic violence, mental health, drug and alcohol, or other significant child protection concerns
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies and community groups
  • High level interpersonal and written skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability
