about the role

yourtown delivers the Youthful Offenders Program (Drug and Alcohol Program) across Arthur Gorrie, Borallon, Wolston, Brisbane Women’s and Southern Queensland Correctional Centres.

We are looking for a Therapeutic Case Manager to work 2 days per week until June 2022. You will need to be available on Monday and Tuesday/Wednesday (8.5 hours per day including travel) and may be required to work 3 days per week when required.

The Therapeutic Case Manager will be required to attend team meetings and group supervision once per quarter. Prior to commencing you will need to be available to attend QLD Corrections Custodial Awareness Training (one day) and site inductions at each correctional centre (approx. 3 hours per centre). You must obtain security clearance from QCS prior to being able to work in the correctional centres.

The Therapeutic Case Manager – Youthful Offenders Program works with young offenders aged 18-25 years to minimise risk factors that influence AOD misuse and reoffending, enhance protective factors and contribute to improvements in wellbeing and interpersonal skills.

You will provide:

  • individual case management
  • co-facilitated workshops
  • assessment of program participants with diverse issues
  • support to participants including preventative strategies

About you

This is an ideal opportunity for Masters Students to gain practical experience working with a highly vulnerable population. Successful candidates will bring:

  • Bachelor degree in Social Work, Social or Behavioural Sciences or expected completion of relevant Masters degree in 2021
  • Demonstrated skills in delivering evidence-based AOD interventions
  • Experience in group facilitation processes
  • Experience in case management
  • Ability to provide flexible, individualised and culturally appropriate responses to young people
  • Confidence in working independently within a correctional facility
