The headspace mission is to collaborate to design and deliver innovative ways of working with young people to strengthen their mental health and wellbeing.

headspace provides a holistic approach to supporting all young people who enter their centres by providing support through four core areas: mental health, physical (including sexual) health, alcohol and other drug services, and work and study support.

headspace Albany is part of a national network of over 100 headspace centres operating across Australia with the vision of all young Australians being supported to be mentally health and engaged in their communities.

headspace Albany is currently seeking an Access Clinician to join their dynamic and highly successful team.

About the role:

• Contributing to the ongoing development, coordination and provision of high quality, early intervention intake response for young people, their families and community services
• Directly engaging and coordinating care for young people accessing headspace Albany
• Deliver evidence-based brief interventions, including single session thinking, group interventions, psychoeducation, and skills training, with young people and their families
• Assisting in the referral of young people to appropriate programs within headspace Albany or other community agencies
• Participating in community awareness raising activities that promote early help seeking and intervention for mental and general health issues

To be considered for this position, applicants will have:

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline; Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing or equivalent
• Current membership/registration with an appropriate professional regulatory body
• Experience in engaging with young people from ‘at risk’ populations including LGBTIQA+, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, CaLD communities, young men, and young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
• Demonstrated experience delivering mental health support, services or programs to young people, their families, and friends
• Demonstrated experience and ability to undertake screening and assessment to determine a young person’s needs, level of risk and to refer to other services as appropriate
• Demonstrated experience and ability to engage, work with, and coordinate care for young people aged 12 to 25 years in areas of mental health and intervention
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
• Ability to problem solve and work creatively with young people
• A high level of interpersonal and communication skills
• ‘C’ Class driver’s licence
• A clear National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check essential
