About the role

We’re looking for an experienced, motivated and proactive Finance Manager to fill this newly expanded role in an organisation making a transformative difference in the lives of Australia’s young people! Along with your small but mighty team of accounts, payroll and HR legends, you’ll work closely with your colleagues on our leadership team and with our Board to deliver excellent financial and human resources support to your fellow superstars across Youth Opportunities including staff based regionally and potentially interstate.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you’ll be accountable for:

  • Driving financial acumen and efficiencies across the organisation as an internal trusted advisor
  • Preparing, developing and analysing key financial information to enable management decision making and financial sustainability
  • Effective oversight and management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, HR and payroll
  • Ensuring effective collaboration between your team and our Business Operations team to provide great service to your internal customers together
  • Contributing to safety, leadership and culture

The role is based at our Somerton Park office in South Australia, with working from home and other flexible work arrangements available by mutual agreement. We’d love someone full time but understand that a few less hours may be important to help you balance your life and work commitments so we don’t want that to hold you back from applying. We’re open to negotiating between 0.8-1.0 FTE (30.4 – 38 hr p/w) to suit your needs.

The person we are looking for:

  • 5+ years experience in senior finance role with experience in HR
  • Tertiary qualification and CPA or CA qualified, or working towards it
  • Is willing and able to operate under limited direction and exercise managerial responsibility for finance, accounts, payroll and HR functions
  • Gets excited about doing the right thing and doing it well when it comes to dotting I’s and crossing T’s because they know that well managed organisations are respected, trusted and efficient
  • Can demonstrate past experience and excellence in developing budgets, providing financial reports, and providing advice to a range of internal stakeholders with often aligned but sometimes competing priorities
  • Is an excellent communicator with a positive approach coupled with highly developed interpersonal and assertive communication skills
  • Displays a positive approach consistent with the Youth Opportunities ethos of personal leadership

We would also love it if you:

  • Are pretty tech savvy and have advanced skills in Xero, Microsoft Excel and some experience using CRM systems
  • Have a strong understanding of the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2020
  • Have experience working in the non-profit, education, training and/or social enterprise sectors

Remuneration and Benefits

This role is a newly up-sized permanent ongoing role with a salary range between $90 - $120k FTE plus superannuation depending on the skills & experience of the candidate and their ability to contribute to and shape commercial & HR strategy.

When considering your potential take-home package it’s really cool to note that as a registered public benevolent institution (PBI) Youth Opportunities employees can salary sacrifice up to $30,000 p/a of which $15,899 is exempt from Fringe Benefits Tax. That means your take home pay increases without working longer hours! A salary comparison estimator is available on request.
