Today, we provide leading and innovative services to women and the broader Canberra community in the areas of children's services, community development, housing, youth services, personal and professional training, and women's leadership and violence prevention trainings and programs.

About the Role

We are currently seeking to employ an experienced Next Door Case Manager with our Housing Support Unit. The Next-Door Program provides housing support to women over the age of 50years who are experiencing homelessness, are potentially homeless, or who are living in unsatisfactory environments.

YWCA Canberra has been managing homelessness services for families since 1996. The Housing Support Unit (HSU) provides supported accommodation services on behalf of the ACT Government and is a registered community housing provider.

We work from a strength based, gender and trauma informed framework offering proactive case management through outreach and transitional accommodation.

About You

If you have excellent communications skills, the ability to work autonomously and as part of a small team and a can-do attitude, we look forward to hearing from you! The successful applicant will hold, or be able to obtain, Working with Vulnerable People registration, current National Criminal Record Check and a current driver's license.

Selection criteria

  • Experience working effectively with vulnerable and disadvantaged people with complex psychosocial support needs
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness within a strengths-based, gender and trauma informed person-centred framework strongly desirable.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting older women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • Knowledge and experience in the following fields:
  • Strengths based Case management and coordination
  • Advocacy
  • Outreach support
  • Extensive stakeholder engagement and relationship management experience
  • Collaborative professional practice
