<h3>About the role</h3>
<p>The Foster Care Program provides a culturally safe service to support Aboriginal children and young people who are living in foster care placements. The Program provides support to the families of the children and to carers. VACCA works towards reuniting children, wherever possible, with their parents and extended families.</p>
<h3>About You</h3>
<ul>
<li>Certificate, Diploma or Degree qualification in Community Services, Social Worker and/or substantial experience in these fields is desirable</li>
<li>Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the values that underpin VACCA' vision and purpose and the capacity to take a leadership role in championing these internally and externally</li>
<li>Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities</li>
<li>Ability to advocate for Aboriginal children and communicate in a clear, culturally appropriate and respectful way with a range of stakeholders including staff and external parties.</li>
<li>Ability to identify the training and support needs of carers, particularly non-Aboriginal carers in terms of their cultural competence and connection to the Aboriginal community.</li>
<li><strong>Requirement:</strong> Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children&rsquo;s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Drivers Licence</li>

<h3>THE POSITION</h3>
<p><strong>St John of God (SJG) Social Outreach </strong>provides a range of community based mental health, homelessness and support and capacity development services across Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Timor-Leste.</p>
<p>Midland Head to Health adult mental health centre, operated by SJG Social Outreach offers free, on-the-spot advice and support and, if needed, assessment and treatment for people with stress, anxiety and other mental health issues. The centre was opened on 1 March 2022 and we now look toward adding <strong>Employment Specialists </strong>to our clinical and support services. As such we are now seeking applications from experienced and qualified employment specialists to join our Midland Head to Health team.</p>
<p>These positions will provide Individual Placement and Support (IPS) services to people with enduring mental health conditions. The Employment Specialists will be fully integrated into the Head to Health multidisciplinary team. The Employment Specialists will provide career development advice and employment assistance to consumers with mental illness in tandem with the clinical team, to ensure people can achieve and maintain sustainable participation in competitive employment.</p>
<h3>THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE</h3>
<ul>
<li>A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.</li>
<li>Knowledge of the principles of Individual Placement and Support evidence-based supported employment, proven ability to provide individualised job support to clients and employers and develop and deliver person-centred plans and supports.</li>
<li>Demonstrated recovery-focused, person-centred practice when working with people with mental health needs.</li>
<li>Excellent organisational, time management and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and meet organisational outcomes and to work well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.</li>
<li>Demonstrated interpersonal skills and proven ability to build and nurture relationships at a personal, organisational and community level.</li>
<li>Well-developed computer, technology and administration skills.</li>
<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li>
<li>Ability to network effectively, negotiate with and influence key stakeholders, community organisations, clinical staff and employers to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome.</li>
<li>Current WA drivers licence to ensure ability to travel in response to the position&rsquo;s needs.</li>
<li>Current National Police Clearance.</li>
<li>Current Working with Children Check.</li>
