The team

Ours is a passionate, international team of education, tech and social impact specialists, all working together to make a meaningful difference to the learning and lives of marginalised children. We are committed to developing the confidence, skills and capabilities of our staff, and we encourage participatory decision-making and ownership across all levels.

As a team, we value diversity and we deeply respect, celebrate and nurture our many differences, recognising that these differences make our organisation stronger and our programs more effective. We therefore welcome applications from jobseekers of any age, gender, sexual orientation, ability, ethnicity, and cultural and religious background. Under-represented groups are encouraged to apply.

The role

You will be taking on a pivotal role within our organisation. As Fundraising Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, developing and securing new opportunities to build Plus Education’s fundraising capability. As a natural self-starter and go-getter, you’ll initiate and nurture relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporates, trusts and foundations, and Private Ancillary Funds, growing our annual fundraising income from $120,000 to over $500,000 by the year’s end.

Your primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Researching and cultivating a pipeline of prospective major gift supporters.
  • Building, managing and strengthening relationships with major gift supporters.
  • Working collaboratively with the Head of Programs and Communications Manager to identify projects, create compelling cases of support, and presents these to prospective supporters.
  • Developing and implementing strategies and activities (incl. events) to progress the supporter journey.
  • Working with the Executive Leadership Team to innovate on revenue streams.

You will report to our India-based CEO and will be required to travel occasionally.

About you

We’re looking for a confident, energetic, and experienced major gifts fundraiser with the following qualifications, experience and skills:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent level of professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in fundraising.
  • A strong track record of securing major gifts (>$25,000) and achieving fundraising targets, preferably in education, international development or related sectors.
  • An outgoing “people person” with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and a genuine passion for networking.
  • Proactive and highly motivated with strong business acumen.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a remote working environment.
  • Experience in education or international development will be highly regarded.

Ideally you will be based in Sydney, however we invite applications from jobseekers anywhere in Australia.

Salary and other details

The role will be offered as an initial 12-month, part-time contract (3-4 days a week) with a salary of up to $80,000 plus bonuses for achieving targets. Leave, allowances and other conditions of employment are in accordance with statutory provisions.

As an organisation that is committed to child safety and creating a safe learning environment for children, you will be required to undergo a Working With Children check should your application be successful.

Interested?

From the moment you join the Plus Education team (the "Plus family" as we call it), we promise to make your employment experience a rewarding and engaging one. If you’re interested in using your fundraising skills and expertise to improve the learning and lives of children on the margins of the developing world, then we’d love to hear from you! Please apply with your CV together with a 1-2 page cover letter outlining your suitability for the role.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis with hope for a January start.
