54 Reasons - Save the Children

Join our brand new Early Years Place in Maryborough, working as part of a dedicated team to maximise our impact on the lives of children and families. This is a community based, rights-focused, integrated model of support for families, that connects children and caregivers to quality early learning, health, and family programming.

54 reasons is Australia's leading child rights organisation - no ordinary not-for-profit.

Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we're here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.

With the child's voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities. From our programs to our support services - this is the place to realise your purpose.

A place to make a difference:

Our Early Years Place promotes increased caregiver awareness and engagement with their child's learning, wellbeing and development. As a Family Support Specialist, you'll play a vital role in supporting early childhood development through working directly with families of children aged 0-8, with programs delivered flexibly in the community. Reporting to our Team Leader, you'll be based in Maryborough.

We have a variety of roles available:

  • part time permanent (4 days per week)
  • part time maximum term (4 days per week, through to June 2026)
  • casual

You will make a difference by:

  • Working with team members to deliver family support programs and age-appropriate services, including playgroups, parenting coaching/workshops, therapeutic family support and case management
  • Promoting positive and culturally respectful approaches to parenting, and child and family wellbeing
  • Engaging with children and families who are not currently accessing support services and providing connections to local services at the right time, including kindergarten
  • Collecting and recording data and information for accountability, evaluation, and reporting

A place to feel valued:

You're an experienced and confident family support practitioner, with a passion for case work and the importance of early childhood development. You work from a strengths-based perspective, your interpersonal skills are excellent, and you will easily build relationships with families to encourage their participation in the EYP. Importantly, you'll keep the values of 54 reasons at the forefront of your work and will always seek excellence in the services we provide to our families.

This role requires:

  • Demonstrated experience in working with children and families in the early years space - early childhood education and care, case management, parenting activities, playgroup or other play-based learning and development activities
  • Demonstrated experience in using a strength-based approach when working with families
  • Ability to manage a number of key relationships and to work in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood or another relevant field, or significant relevant experience
