Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families across Darwin? We need you to join our team of dedicated family support practitioners, helping to maximise our impact on the lives of vulnerable families who are part of the Integrated Homelessness Supported Accommodation Program (IHSAP). In this varied and challenging role, you'll help give families the tools they need to thrive.
54 reasons is Australia's leading child rights organisation - no ordinary not-for-profit.
Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we're here to make sure that everyone understands their rights. So that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.
We champion the children, young people and families we work with. We are inspired by the curiosity and creativity of children and motivated by the love of those who care for them.
With the child's voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers, advocating with them so that children develop, learn, and are connected, safe and confident. Our people are proudly local, reflective of the communities we serve - in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities.
In this full-time, maximum term position (through to end of June 2024, with potential for extension), you'll work as a key contributing member of the IHSAP case management team, providing family and child focused support and services to people residing at the YISSA Stayover accommodation program, who require additional support to thrive.
The Integrated Homelessness Supported Accommodation Program (IHSAP) is provided under the auspice of Mission Australia, so as a Family Support Worker in this program you'll also ensure that you're familiar with Mission Australia's Vision, Values and Mission.
You will make an impact through:
Based in Darwin and working out of YISSA stayover accommodation, you'll work flexible hours between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday and will report to our Team Leader.
You're an experienced practitioner who is passionate about supporting families within a child centred, strengths-based framework. Importantly, you have a strong understanding of the impact of trauma on children and their families and you're keenly aware of the additional impacts and barriers experienced by families residing in temporary accommodation.
This role requires:

Our people work from both home and office, with important moments held in-person to foster belonging and support professional development. Our leave provisions include personal, ceremonial and family violence leave as well as the ability to purchase additional leave.
