ACTCOSS pays above agreement wages at this level according to the ACT Community Sector Multiple Enterprise Agreement, and the full-time wage is currently $88,619 plus 9.5% superannuation.
The ACT Council of Social Service (ACTCOSS) advocates for social justice in the ACT and represents not-for-profit community organisations. ACTCOSS works to ensure that government policy improves the lives of people who face disadvantage and that community service organisations are adequately resourced and supported. ACTCOSS is a member of the nationwide COSS network, made up of each state and territory COSS and our national body, the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS).
This position is ideal for a person who is seeking an opportunity to work in an interesting and varied role, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.
The role of Media and Communications Officer suits someone with experience in journalism, writing and communications, with a strong interest in social justice and achieving a more equitable society.
The position gives the successful candidate a broad and engaging workload, with an opportunity to work with a team of around 12 individuals.

The Media and Communications Officer will be responsible for managing the development, distribution and promotion of ACTCOSS public messaging, using a variety of channels such as newsletters, print media and social media platforms.
The role will require development and maintenance of external relationships with members, government and media stakeholders, as well as working closely with the ACTCOSS staff internally to develop content and messaging.
The Media and Communications Offer will be expected to contribute to the development and implementation of both strategic and operational improvements in respect to communications and media strategy and internal practices.
The position will need to work particularly closely and collaboratively with the Policy Team to ensure alignment of messaging, data and representations in different public spaces.
