We are Australia’s largest member-based charity for people living with or at risk of diabetes. We have been supporting people with diabetes, their families, carers and friends, for 80 years.

The Opportunity

We have a rare opportunity for a Gifts in Wills Officer to coordinate the Gifts in Wills program with a focus on estate administration, donor relations, project and event delivery to maintain a sustainable income stream for Diabetes NSW & ACT and Diabetes Queensland to help people living with or at risk of diabetes. Playing a critical role in the fundraising team, the position will develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to increase Gifts in Will pledges.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of the administration of estates, bequests and anticipated bequests.
  • Ensure accurate recording and reporting of income from bequests.
  • Prepare regular reports on income generation including pipeline reporting and expenditure.
  • Ensure colleagues have all relevant information required to perform their duties and established standards are maintained.
  • Provide efficient and professional stakeholder liaison with relevant third-party organisations such as solicitors.
  • Ensure the CRM database is fully utilised and kept up to date.
  • Coordination of campaigns, mailings, surveys, etc. to grow the bequest pipeline including the number of confirmed bequeathers.
  • Deliver an annual calendar of meaningful engagement activities including coordinating a broad range of high-quality functions, activities and bespoke events in line with the Gifts in Wills strategy.
  • Coordinate stewardship activities for donors including the provision of personalised communications, impact reports, Gifts in Wills collateral.
  • Effectively handle enquiries from supporters, solicitors and the general public.
  • Effectively nurture existing relationships; and coordinate and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward bequest prospects.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have fundraising and marketing experience, along with experience coordinating gifts in wills programs.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Demonstrated fundraising and marketing experience including the implementation and administration of strategic gift in will programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate fundraising campaigns, including by mail and online.
  • Experience in event planning and delivery.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, discretion, effective listening and demonstrated experience in cultivating and maintaining long-term supporter relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively by telephone, in writing and in person to a diverse audience of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise own workload; work independently and within a team environment and meet deadlines whilst maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong PC skills with a demonstrated knowledge of databases and the value of data integrity and accuracy

Desirable:

  • Estates management experience
  • Knowledge of segmentation and targeting prospects for gifts in wills programs
