The role is responsible for undertaking work that is moderately complex in nature, delivered under limited direction and utilising expertise and knowledge within the community engagement area. In addition to contributing to the planning and delivery of the IEPP, and working with Indigenous electors, the IEPP Engagement Officer will also be required to contribute to community engagement outcomes, including working with CALD, homeless, prisoners, youth and/or people with disabilities.

To excel you will have:

  • Proven ability to develop, deliver and manage programs and projects
  • Ability to oversee training to community organisations and service providers to deliver education and AEC messages to target communities
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and/or providing government services and strategies to engage Indigenous people or other culturally diverse groups
  • An understanding of the issues affecting Indigenous people, and an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Indigenous people
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions using good judgement based on expertise and analysis of information, in line with operational procedures
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively whilst responding to stakeholder needs and expectations across a geographically dispersed and diverse network
  • Experience in successfully setting priorities and delivering on time quality results in a project/program context
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to show initiative in support of business improvement strategies and provide expert advice
  • Ability to manage staff while developing capabilities, encouraging career development and promoting professionalism 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of, or ability to quickly gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice  
  • Knowledge of, or ability to quickly gain knowledge of the Commonwealth Resource Framework
