We focus on strengthening relationships, promoting respect and creating employment and education opportunities for Indigenous people.

AFL SR is a national organisation with a head office located in Melbourne and regional offices located in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, Perth, and Wangaratta. Remote working options are available, and this position is able to be based in multiple locations.

THE OPPORTUNITY

AFL SportsReady is seeking to appoint an experienced senior manager to lead our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs. Working as part of AFL SR’s senior leadership team, this is a critical role for the company, and an outstanding opportunity to help us to make a real difference to the lives of young people.

Reporting to the CEO, this role sits within our national office and manages a small team. Remote working options are available meaning the candidate is able to work from home (or within one of our state office locations). Our preference is that the candidate is located on the east coast of Australia, within driving distance of a major city, however other locations will also be considered.

The role would suit someone with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, who has extensive experience maintaining strong partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, people and organisations. The successful candidate will have well developed skills and abilities in communication and stakeholder management and will be a passionate advocate of the power of education and employment to change lives.

The key areas of responsibility for this role are:

  1. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander program leadership;
  2. Community engagement and program partnership development;
  3. Co-leadership of company Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business development programs;
  4. Ready Foundation (AFL SR’s charity arm) support and growth;
  5. Senior leadership and staff management.
