- Based in Hobart (alternative locations in Tasmania will be considered)
DUTIES OF THE POSITION
- Following on from a productive growth plan in the Tasmanian Branch, the organiser shall endeavour to promote workplace structure amongst the membership.
- Identify and promote the election of delegates.
- Identify and develop activists within the target sites.
- Organise workers to build workplace power and structures.
- Develop contact lists for each target site for use in email trees and SMS groups.
- Identify and promote union delegate training.
- Identify HSR and promote Union Training for each target site.
- Identify and promote OHS in the workplace.
- Intrastate travel will be required within Tasmania and occasional interstate travel and after hours work due to members shiftwork.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Methodical, accurate approach to work.
- Able to deal with a high volume of work and a change of priorities.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Workplace organising experience.
- Able to work alone or in small teams.
- Computer literate and keyboard skills, including word processing, email and SMS systems.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Experience in Organising new and existing Workplaces.
- Self-starter and self-motivated.
- Good working class values.
SALARY AND CONDITIONS
- Salary package commensurate with experience ($92,794.00 - $104,998.40)
- One RDO per month
