The Asia Pacific Network of Refugees (APNOR) is seeking a Grants Coordinator to promote the work, concerns and ideas of refugee and refugee led organisations in the Asia-Pacific region.

APNOR is a network of refugee-led groups established in 2018. Our objective is to build a sustainable and inclusive network for refugee-led organisations in the Asia Pacific region, to set the regional agenda for refugee policy that draws on the collective voice of lived experience to influence stakeholder and decision-making priorities, and to support the development of stronger national refugee-led structures that can influence national policy reform.

The candidate we are seeking

The Grants Coordinator will lead the grants administration and engagement activities with refugee-led organisations participating in the pilot pooled funding project. The Grants Coordinator will work with the Coordinators of the Refugee Leadership Alliance to set grant making processes including project concept development, payment processing, outcomes reporting, skills strengthening activities and communication with donors and partners.

The successful applicant will be a well organised, motivated, and effective communicator with outstanding project management skills, have an understanding of refugee issues in the Asia Pacific region, relevant qualifications and experience in grants administration, project management, public. The contract position is for 21 hours per week for 12 months.

About the Refugee Leadership Alliance

The Refugee Leadership Alliance (Alliance) exists to increase influence, networks and funds for potential and current leaders with direct experience of forced migration.

This Alliance was formed in June 2021. We are a broad alliance of donors, other sector allies and leaders with refugee experience, working in the Asia Pacific region. We meet remotely over Zoom.

This Alliance supports the leadership of people who have experienced, or are experiencing, forced migration, whether as refugees, people seeking asylum, internally displaced people and/or as stateless people.

Key responsibilities

The Grants Coordinator works with the Co-Convenors of the Refugee Leadership Alliance to:

  • Develop grants administration tools including project proposal templates, progress and acquittal report templates, funding agreements and other relevant documentation.
  • Maintain productive relationships with grant recipients including assistance (if necessary) in meeting grant conditions and reporting milestones.
  • Develop and maintain the network of grant recipients participating in the pilot project.
  • Communicate the outcomes of funded projects and organisations to Alliance members, donors and other APNOR stakeholders.
  • Identify skill building opportunities for grant recipients.
  • Maintain accurate records of grant funded activities.
  • Be the main Alliance contact point for grant recipients.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement processes.
  • Assist with other duties as determined by the Executive Director.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following selection criteria:

  1. Knowledge of refugee and asylum seeker issues in the Asia Pacific region.
  2. Experience in administration, coordination, promotion, reporting and evaluation of grants programs.
  3. Strong organisational skills, ability to take initiative, prioritise and meet deadlines and high level of computer literacy.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to communicate respectfully with different cultural groups and to work in a team.
  5. Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience.

Desirable

Please outline relevant experience you may have in any of the following:

  1. A deep understanding of refugee issues from personal experience and/or from close personal and cultural connections to refugee communities.
  2. Knowledge of the operations and challenges of refugee led organisations in Asia Pacific region.
  3. Experience in effective advocacy and/or marketing campaigns.
  4. Experience providing training
  5. Experience in writing for fundraising campaigns
  6. Experience supervising and working with volunteers.
