Kaltjiti Arts is home to some of Australia’s most prestigious Indigenous Artists including APY elders Witjiti George, Taylor Cooper, Imatjala Curley and winner of the NATSIAA Painting Prize (2017) Matjangka Nyukana Norris. Located in the Fregon Community on the stunning Anangu Pitjantjara Yankunytjara (APY) Lands in the remote north west of South Australia, Kaltjiti Arts is one of the longest running art centres in the country. The role of the Kaltjiti Art Centre Manager offers a rare and exciting opportunity for someone with extensive fine art and business management skills combined with a zealous drive.

The manager of Kaltjiti Arts reports directly to a board of directors who represent the artist members of the organisation. The Art Centre Manager is responsible for all areas of art centre operations including: operational management and governance; artistic development, financial management, sales and marketing and human resources. This position will primarily involve building on the art centre’s past and recent successes whilst developing new economic opportunities and revenue diversification.

Kaltjiti Arts seeks an experienced, highly organised and driven arts professional with a proven record of successful business leadership and sound knowledge of enabling strong governance with an understanding of Australian Indigenous art. Working with the Board of Directors, the Studio Manager, a team of artsworkers and over 50 artists, the successful applicant will also be committed to the principles of self-determination and best practice governance in delivering the strategic vision of Anangu Elders at the helm of Kaltjiti Arts.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has demonstrated experience achieving positive economic and social impact. Respect and understanding of cross-cultural environments and knowledge of contemporary Aboriginal art is essential. To succeed in this position, the successful applicant must have highly developed listening and communication skills and the ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
