Australian New Guinea Administrative Unit (ANGAU) Hospital is a major hospital in Lae, Papua New Guinea. Named after an Australian Army unit that was responsible for the civil administration of the Territory of Papua and the Mandated Territory of New Guinea, the hospital provides in-patient and specialist medical services to people in the Sepik, Madang and Morobe provinces. Public health nurses are on the front line of the public health crisis the world now knows as the COVID‐19 pandemic.
They serve on mobile strike teams investigating case‐contacts, deliver education on self‐isolation and quarantine through hotlines and home visits, and interpret the rapidly shifting guidance from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The PHN mentor will assist describe the challenges faced by rural communities in addressing COVID-19, with a focus on the issues faced by MoPHA/ANGAU hospital.
You’ll be assisting to provide the full range of professional public health nursing services, and assist with planning for a variety of community health nursing programs regarding the COIVD-19 pandemic
