Architects without Frontiers Australia (AWF) is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic person to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring the future growth and excellence of the organisation. AWF has enjoyed a fantastic period of growth and change in recent years, mostly due to the support of our dedicated Partner Network. The AWF Finance Officer will be responsible for all financial duties associated with the organisation.
Working hours are flexible but are estimated to require up to 1 day per week.
The role will report directly to the AWF Board via the AWF Chair and/or Finance Director
KEY DUTIES
Financial Administration
- Administer the end to end accounting cycle, including:
- Monthly invoicing of debtors & donors,
- Manage reimbursements and other payments,,
- Donation receipting for DGR purposes,
- Process transactions in accordance with budget and the approvals process
- Bank Reconciliations,
- Payroll,
- Accounts receivable and debtor management,
- Quarterly BAS Lodgement,
- Superannuation & any other ATO returns,
- Monthly tracking of budget line items and contingency allocations.
- Preparation of financial reports for the Board, including summary page and excel formatted Income Statement v Budget, Quarterly Budget, Annual Forecast.
- Presentation of financial reports and discuss relevant financial issues with the Board.
- Preparation of Annual Budget.
- Provision of financial information to Board Directors as requested.
- Coordination with external accountant on the Special Purpose Financial Statements (if required).
- Support any external audit or review of AWF financial matters,
- Administration of the ACNC Register in terms of AWF profile and annual statements.
- Coordination and administration of the annual Audit Review.
- Provide guidance to the organisation on financial issues as they arise.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Accounting or bookkeeping experience (formal qualifications highly regarded)
- Previous experience with accounting software (preferably Xero)
- Previous experience in the not-for-profit sector (desired);
- Knowledge of the international design and architectural sector (desired);
- Previous experience reporting to a volunteer board (desired);
- Ability to work autonomously;
- Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders;
- Functional skill with modern work-from-home interactive technologies.
