About the role

Our Business Development Manager SMB (BDM) will join as a junior member of an existing sales team comprised of BDMs, Business Development Representatives and Solution Engineers. The BDM SMB will learn and apply sales techniques while on the job, and be responsible for sourcing new business, creating and nurturing relationships, and closing deals in the SMB space by:

  • Building and managing pipeline by sourcing new business leads, following up on leads and undertaking demand generation activities.
  • Prospecting into organisations to determine if they have a need for our software and qualifying leads
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
  • Preparing & presenting tailored solutions to prospective customers.
  • Negotiating and closing new business opportunities.
  • Representing AlayaCare as a brand ambassador at networking events.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of sales plans, marketing, and promotional campaigns.
  • Developing and maintaining an understanding of the marketplace and competitor offerings.

What we are looking for in the Business Development Manager, SMB role

You might be a graduate in commerce or health (or a related discipline) looking to start your career, or early in your sales career and looking to move to the next level. You are willing to learn, interested in technology and sales, enthusiastic and resilient. More specifically you will have:

  • Fantastic public speaking and presentation skills – you know how to engage an audience
  • The ability to self-motivate and self-direct work, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a wider team.
  • Great written and verbal communication skills – you’re accurate and your content is graded to the audience or task at hand.
  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills – you’re a people person.
  • The ability to leverage key programs, relationships, technology, and personnel to move sales to closure.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills – there’s a solution to every problem and you will find or create it based on the data you collect.
  • Sound technical ability – you understand technological concepts and use technology to a high level at work and in your day-to-day life.
  • The ability to learn quickly and efficiently

It would also be great if you have:

  • Experience working in a sales or retail environment
  • An interest in aged and disability care, or health
