Behaviour Support Practitioners are Human Rights warriors! They work in a multi-disciplinary model with a range of allied health professionals to understand customer needs and goals and provide tailored support to meet these.
This role is Permanent Full Time and will join our dynamic team located in either Melbourne or Ringwood.
A day in the life of a Behaviour Support Practitioner
- Assist customers, their families and support teams to identify their needs through assessment and individual planning, to develop meaningful goals and practical strategies to support customers to meet their goals in their home and community.
- Work in a multi/trans-disciplinary model with a range of allied health professionals to provide a holistic and integrated approach to supports.
- Provide clinical knowledge, expertise and support to individuals, families and support staff.
- Handle complex case management.
- Develop positive, collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders.
About you
- A commitment to Aruma's code of conduct.
- Demonstrated skills and experience to meet the Core capability or higher (Proficient/Advanced/Specialist) Behaviour Support Practitioner as outlined in the National Disability Insurance Scheme Quality and Safeguards Commission - Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework 2019 and maintain suitability to deliver Specialist Behaviour Support under the NDIS.
- Have a minimum 3 years' experience in the delivery supports to people with complex behaviour support needs.
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification in Allied Health, Disability or Social Sciences.
- Have explicit knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support principals including functional behaviour assessment, development of behaviour support plans, implementation processes.
- Knowledge, understanding and commitment to the policies, procedures and delegations of Aruma, together with relevant legislation (e.g. Disability Services Act 1993, NDIS Practice Standards, Guardianship Act 1987).
