About the role

Kalgoorlie Aboriginal Short Stay Accommodation (KASSA) provides Aboriginal visitors to Kalgoorlie-Boulder with affordable, safe and secure, culturally appropriate short-term accommodation (up to three months), with additional support to access appropriate external services as required. KASSA provides services for up to 41 people at any time and as such is staffed by a 24hr roster.

The Short Stay Worker position is responsible for providing a high standard of holistic and culturally safe support to residents in accordance with the policies of Australian Red Cross. The role involves meeting various demands to achieve agreed standards and comply with policy and procedures that impact on the needs of the residents and the service. The successful candidate will be expected to follow shift routines including resident check in and out, meal times and social activities and outings as well as manage unplanned requests from residents. As a Short Stay Worker, you will also undertake cleaning and minor maintenance tasks to ensure that the facility is well maintained to a high standard, and report any health and safety concerns

What you will bring

• Experience working in the Aboriginal community 
• Understanding of how to uphold policies and procedures including safe work practices, infection control, hygiene standards, administrative duties and resident documentation
• Basic verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work under regular supervision from senior managers and co-operatively within a team and maintain good working relationships
• Flexible approach to engaging with challenging issues

Working with Children Check and Driver Licence are required for this role

This role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award - Level 2. Hourly rate $32.22 + casual loading + superannuation + access to salary packaging.
