Outline & Purpose of Role:

Australia for UNHCR is an international aid agency that raises funds from Australian donors to support the humanitarian operations of the UN Refugee Agency. Established in 2000 as part of a global fundraising network it has now raised more than $400 million from a broad network of individuals, community and corporate partners.

Reporting to the Senior Media and Communications Manager, this role works closely with other members of the Communications team, with the primary focus being to edit compelling videos for Australia for UNHCR’s social media pages, website, events and internal communications. The person in this role will focus on sourcing and editing video for our social media pages, but also be involved in creating videos for events and fundraising communications. The role is also responsible for the management and filing of videos and photos.

This role requires someone experienced in producing content for social media and understanding of social media trends, including solid experience in editing video, particularly with Premier Pro, who can work both independently and collaboratively to provide consistent content and messaging across all platforms and fulfil organisational video requirements, and ideally also be able to shoot video.

The ideal candidate will approach work with integrity, initiative, creativity and internal motivation to raise awareness of refugees and displaced people.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Media and Communications Manager, the Digital Video Editor is responsible for:

• Editing engaging videos for our social media pages, including TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube
• Sourcing and editing video content from UNHCR global
• Monitoring video analytics to gauge success of social media efforts and initiatives
• Monitoring the competitive social video landscape and identify trends in consumption in line with our brand
• Working closely with other teams to create videos based on the organisation's content requirements, including Australia for UNHCR missions, events, fundraising EDMs, webinars and fundraising campaigns
• Ensuring video files are stored, filed and shared online with established guidelines
• Overseeing and maintaining the organisation’s Digital Asset Management Platform
• Working with members of the content and communications team to provide consistent content and messaging across all platforms

The successful application will possess the following attributes:

Essential

• Must be experienced in editing with Premiere Pro
• 3 + years of experience in video editing
• Experience in producing content for social media and understanding of social media trends
• Understanding of social media video trends
• Ability to respond to messaging needs and initiate video stories to effectively communicate them

Desirable

• Ability to shoot video
• Experience in writing scripts for social videos
• Some experience in motion graphics
• Video production experience in the humanitarian space
• Familiar with After Effects and Photoshop
